Yazmin Lacey is a proper East End girl who after moving to Nottingham several years ago found her voice and what a voice it is, fragile yet strong, a voice for classic soul music but with its roots in surprising places. Ex-Friendly caught up with her over a beer on the eve of her first solo release, an extended EP entitled ‘Black Moon’, soul jazz ripe with emotion containing hints of broken beat and other indicators of what is to come.
