'The Languages Of Tambores' is an awe-inspiring collection of percussion-heavy music from around the globe expertly compiled by Italian born alt-jazz star Gabriele Poso. Featuring some of the world’s greatest percussionists including Brazil’s Dudu Tucci, Ghana’s master drummer Mustapha Tettey Addy and Gabrielle himself, if you're a fan of the drum, this is an essential buy with many of the cuts never released on wax before.
Gabriele’s first solo album 'From The Genuine World' was released on Osunlade's 'Yoruba Records' in 2008 and like his label boss and friend, he has both an ability to choose tracks that lock you into the dancefloor and a deep and spiritual understanding of the drum and its ancient use as a communication tool. Whether you just want to add some serious conga workouts to your set or shut your eyes and get lost in the evocative and ancestral vibes, I can’t recommend this album enough.
A particular standout and enough reason to buy this record alone is this incredible nine and a half minute workout by the legendary late Nigerian percussionist, educator and social activist Babatunde Olatunji (I recommend clicking through to his Wikipedia page, this guy has some epic musical history!)
Gabriele Poso himself is no slouch, appearing on records by DJ Jazzy Jeff, Louie Vega and Osunlade among many others. Currently touring, his latest artist album 'Invocation' is entirely played, sung and produced by Gabriele himself and his incredible live shows are swiftly raising his international profile
