We are pleased to premiere the video of the graceful debut single from Basel/Berlin based trio LILAMORS.
Taken from their forthcoming album ‘When I Am Dead, My Dearest’, ‘Home’ is a deeply intimate piece of experimental chamber music, steeped with a hymn-like emotional charge. The song emerged from an improvisation based on loose compositional concepts, delivered by the trio with a strong sense of freedom in both expression and form. ‘Home’ also represents the settling of LILAMORS into a new aesthetic field, having arrived from a more traditional jazz background.
“This piece really made us feel like we made it HOME and arrived at a new place”singer Ana Čop recalls.
The Basel-based band, led by Slovenian vocalist Ana Čop emerged from a duo collaboration with the German pianist Thilo Seevers. Together they released and album in 2020, comprising some unconventional takes on traditional jazz repertoire (ACTS!, Klopotec). For this new project, sound artist Jaka Arh joined and helped the group to establish a forward-thinking aesthetic identity, building surrealist collages of stylistic and thematic contrasts. Dark and light, life and death, in the universe of LIILAMORS, it’s all one.
The video directed by Blaž Rojs, is a slow moving dance from pitch black; the only actors, cut out images of deep sea creatures circling to the low blood pressure of the music, the warmth and colours are submerged into the deep. Lovely.
‘Home’ is released on March 31st, 2023 on Hout Records.
The album ‘When I Am Dead, My Dearest’ is released on June 30th, 2023.
