Guohan 'Feeling' Premiere! 〰️

Our good friend Guohan has been busy! As well as helping run the Nottingham based Running Circle label as well as Meridian Sounds out of Southern China, he has completed a shiny new EP as a follow up to his abstract beat-heavy 2021 debut LP ‘Lost Sound Book’ which grabbed the attention of folks like Charlie Bones, Esa, Toshio Matsuura, Ninja Tune, and of course, us!

For this EP enigmatically titled as 'The City of the Sun and Moon', the tempo picks up nicely, with hazy, deep grooves partly in homage to the underground house sound of Nottingham’s DiY crew and more specifically, the creative and spiritual influence of the late Pete Woosh who worked closely with the Running Circle lads in his last years. There is also the greater influence of his life back home at play as the record “reflects the mountains and liminal spaces from Guohan’s dreams and memories, channeling a healing warmth inspired by people, cities, villages, and tales of his grandparents.”

We are mightily pleased to host the premiere of the first single from the EP simply titled ‘Feeling’ - his signature use of hypnotic field recording loops, dusty percussion and Moodyman style repetitive funk in full effect but with that 90s deeper-than-deep house thing going on. It’s a bomb!

‘Feeling’ is released on 4th May 2022

EP is released on 17th June 2022
